Colorful Autumn Nights

Autumn Rider 2

The Trollshaws is an area that abounds with both beauty and danger.  The dramatic cliffs, colorful leaves, and babbling brooks all are quite striking.  However this land abuts the Ettenmoors, home of trolls and other fell monsters.  And sometimes these dire creatures venture into the Trollshaws, making travel hazardous for the unwary.  The elves of nearby Rivendell are often on patrol and have several outposts, but they always welcome a trusted friend to help out.

Absinthe is wearing:

Caparison of the Eldar Autumn in Rust
Sunflower Headpiece in Rust
Sunflower Tailpiece in Black
War-steed’s Leggings of Winter’s Light

Unsurprisingly, Absinthe was displeased that our shots of her rearing at night turned out so badly (dark horse head against a dark background just does NOT work).  The lantern effect only is useful for humans/elves/dwarves/hobbits/beorns, not mares, it seems…  So we compromised and selected a shot of her rearing at dawn, with all the lovely colors that dawn brings.  And those colors are light enough to show off her beautiful black coat to it’s best advantage 🙂

Rusted Warrioress

Rusted 2

Many long years of hard battle have turned this former maiden into something far more harsh and hard.  Her formerly shiny steel armor shows its age and the stains of many fights.   She keeps her face covered, as her past beauty has faded and she now shows the signs of dire battle, sleepless nights, and friends lost.  She finds that anger often rules her now, even though she was not always this way.   Riding her faithful war-steed across the lands is one of the few enjoyments she finds in this world now.  Perhaps some day she will return home, but for now she must wander alone with her past.

War-steed Outfit:

Head-piece of the Northern Herald in Umber

Sunflower Tail-Piece

War-steed Leggings of Winter’s Light

I thought about setting this somewhere more foreboding, as the tale of the rusted warrioress is not a happy one.   However the faded colors of the Iron Hills coupled with the iron-rich waterways made me settle on there for my location.  The inspiration for this was Karazgar, I find his story a rather fascinating one (and those little piles of rust that are the only signs of him when you first start tracking him).  I hope you enjoyed the screenies, next one up should be a happy hobbit!

An Ethuin Evening in Ered Luin

Ethuin Evening 6

I didn’t follow my normal routine on this one.  Usually I create an outfit for the character, then if interested I create a war-steed outfit.  This time I decided I wanted to mount-match an older Spring Festival steed, one which didn’t even have war-steed cosmetics!  I feel I did pretty well, mixing and matching a bit, trying not to use the same pieces used by other bloggers for spring ensembles (and trust me, that was hard as some of the other long-term bloggers have so much awesome stuff!).

Please enjoy as Anmorata and her friends enjoy the warm Ethuin evening breezes in Ered Luin 🙂

Absinthe was a bit jealous that another steed was featured, so she demanded her own custom spring outfit 😉  She also insisted that her photos be taken at dawn, just to be different.  She really liked this caparison, even though it’s greens didn’t match the dress very well.  Oh well, hard to argue with a mare when she’s being marish 😀

Introducing – Andrys

Andrys profile

Andrys is a young man of Dale, with quite an influential personality. However the one person he wants to influence the most, a female archer of great skill, he is unable to even speak around. He hones his skills as a leader and motivator, hoping to one day catch the attention of the one woman he loves above all others. He started training when just a boy with the Dale Guards, seeking to achieve a high position within the guard. Andrys was born and raised in Dale by his loving parents along with a younger sister.

Emissaries of Mordor appeared at the gates of Dale making inquiries about hobbits and missing rings simultaneously with word of strange and warlike people gathering on the eastern edges of the Dale lands. The troop Andrys was in was sent to the border to provide protection to the farmers and other Dale-folk living there. For the next two years they lived and fought on the eastern border, as the Easterlings were vicious and many. One day, the Easterlings started to mass in great numbers. It was apparent something was going to happen, and very soon it did. Many of Andrys’ companions and shield mates were killed in the battle, those who did survive barely did so. Andrys suffered a head wound which knocked him unconscious and bled copiously – probably saving his life. The Easterlings had their orders to attack Dale, and did not stay to ensure that all of the Dale border troops were dead.

Andrys returned to consciousness surrounded by death. Horrified by what he saw he did his best to hurry back to Dale, as he was profoundly worried about the city he loved. Sadly by the time he made it back Dale had been sacked, and none of the Dale folk were to be found. Andrys scrounged some supplies while sneaking into Dale to gather some intelligence on what had happened. He was relieved to hear the Easterlings bitterly complaining about the Dale-folk sheltering inside Erebor, and saddened to hear of his king’s death. He made a small camp in one of the ruins near Dale and proceeded the harass the Easterlings every chance he could get.

One day there was a great commotion among the Easterlings, it seems their great leader had been killed. The Easterling commanders within Dale argued amongst themselves about what to do next, giving Andrys time to ride hard for Erebor. Once there he informed the new kings Bard II and Thorin III of the Easterlings disarray. The combined might of Dale and Erebor, along with Andrys now leading his own men, were enough to break the siege of Dale! With the Easterlings routed, the rebuilding of Dale could finally begin, again. Andrys was reunited with his family, who thankfully had been sheltering in Erebor. His mysterious lady-love however was nowhere to be found, as she had been out on a mission of her own.

In recognition of his prowess in battle and efforts during the Easterling invasion, Andrys was officially awarded his own command. He was further honored to provide the guard for the emissary of Dale being sent to King Elessar’s coronation. It was here in Gondor at this happy occasion, that he finds his lady archer, yet he finds himself still unable to speak to her…

He rides the war steed Glawar, a mighty stallion who has been trained to battle by the Rohirrim. His golden coat gleams brightly, hence his name which means “golden color of sunshine” in Sindarin.

Intro Ride

For those of you interested in the pieces of this set – both character and steed – don’t worry!  I am working on that for a future post with more screenies and all those juicy details 🙂

White Knight of Gondor

White is a tricky color in LotRO, as so many items will dye more of a grey when you try to apply a white dye to them.  But I was on a mission, and I wanted a white knight theme!  So with time, some work in the Ettenmoors, and updates releasing relevant pieces – the White Knight of Gondor was born 🙂

White Knight 1

I chose a location outside of Osgiliath at night, partially in the Anduin, to show off my creation.  I had to remind myself what brought up the personal lantern, as it had been a while since my last night time photo shoot 🙂  My only unhappiness is with the greenish mottled cloud look in the sky.  As the screenies were taken over a couple of different night time cycles and at various times in the night cycle, I am not sure I can explain it other than location?  I even double checked my other night time shots that were in different locations in ME (Bree, Moors, Frostbluff, etc) and they did not have that.  I decided it was due to the pollution smog-effect from the orcs and other evil beings inhabiting Osgiliath for so long!

Her outfit is:

Chest – Jacket of the Causeway in White

Shoulders – Shoulder of the Armoury in Black

Hands – Gauntlets of the Causeway in Black

Feet – Boots of the Steely Dawn

Back – Durable Cloak of the Citadel Guard Captain

Steed Absinthe is wearing:

The Citadel Guard Set (Caparison, Halter, Legs all in White – plus the Accessory)

Foxy Lady

With the release of North Ithilien came a few odd cosmetic pieces – a half face mask that resembles a fox, a cloak that features a fox (and sadly is undyable), and a set of shoulders.  Also, if you do enough daily herbalist quests you can get a new steed with matching war steed cosmetics.  I admit I was not impressed by any of these at first.  But then my little cosmetic brain started thinking of these new pieces…

There are some dresses that I also liked, but I decided to stay with this light armor look for my official interpretation of the North Ithilien foxy lady 🙂

Gloves – Astaldo in Bullroarer’s Green
Back – Wreath of the North Ithilien Wilds

Steed Absinthe is wearing:

Thank you for reading!  If you want to explore other options that go with these North Ithilien pieces, I found that the Bullroarer’s Green and Lorien Gold dyes worked well.  There was at least one other chestpiece that I liked, and several dresses – and that was just what appealed to me!

Summer Days

It’s festival time in Middle Earth, and while all the races have fun and entertainments available – nothing beats the hobbit celebration! This year the hobbits have really organized a bash too: fishing, kite flying, sweet cream stand, dances, etc. All in all a very good year to enjoy the festivities.
Anmorata takes some time to enjoy the season, and Absinthe joins in!

Steed Absinthe is wearing:

Halter of Rivendell in Crimson
Leggings of Rivendell in Crimson

I do love this tunic, and I use it on quite a few alts.  I’m looking forward to when the Belegaer Blue dye is released as it will give even more options for this tunic and a few other hard-to-match items.  Here is another variant I’ve made with a little huntress I play on the Laurelin server.  The shoulders have that similar blueish band in the front and the hat just looks so dapper – this is her standard festival outfit.  She has far more practical clothes for serious action in both regular temperatures and in the icy cold places!

Farewell Withywindle!

The Withywindle server will be closing forever soon, and has opened for transfer to other worlds. Anmorata and company have spent many happy hours on Withywindle – questing, battling, meeting friends, and enjoying quiet times. Thankfully many of my friends have or will be transferring to the Evernight server, where we will make new homes, friends, and stories for ourselves. For those who are just a memory from Withywindle, you are missed.

Defender of Minas Tirith

Anmorata’s journey has now brought her to Minas Tirith.  The city is threatened, the forces from Mordor sit practically on their doorstep.  But with her usual aplomb, Anmorata does what she can to help the defenders, earning herself the title of Defender of Minas Tirith!  Here is a glimpse into her adventures in this stunning yet dangerous location.

Update 17 has left me a bit busy gaming!  I very much enjoy exploring the new areas, questing, and continuing to develop my raiding characters to their new potential.  There are some interesting new cosmetics in this update – some of which I am sure will be featured in future posts 🙂

Rider of the Eorlingas

This was inspired by the recently released Hooked Cloak of the Eorlingas – I love the back of this cloak!  As my champion hails from Rohan, she was the perfect choice to return home and model this cloak.  Absinthe also received her own equine wardrobe update 🙂

Her outfit is:

Steed Absinthe is wearing:

I will admit now that while I love the back of the cloak, I hate how it frames my character’s face. This is why I did not include any shots of her from the front!
